Edinburgh by the sea 🏖 ? otherwise known as PORTOBELLO
So if you have visited Edinburgh for a few days and covered all the city has to offer what else is close by ?
Well one thing you may not know is the traditional British seaside is not far away...
Portobello which is branded as 'Edinburgh by the Sea" is very much a old style British Seaside resort that has over the last decade undergone a revival and is now a desirable location to live, it has a great stretch of beach and that is backed by a mile long promenade.
There is some very nice cafes/restaurants along this stretch to enjoy a drink and meal in next to the sea whilst sitting people watching. It can be on nice days a busy promenade. There are amusements also and a couple of children's playgrounds for the younger generations. This area is now a popular spot for lunch for many locals and visitors alike so it is a option if your visiting the city.
To get there you could simply get a cab / uber if not public transport is available via various buses look out for the No 26 No 124 or No 49 they will all get you there for minimum price.
Once on the Prom..... I do have a recommendation for breakfast or lunch,
Miros Cafe it serves some excellent, light meals and I can personally recommend the Porty Breakfast one of the best in the area. My Logistics Manager also recommends the coffee and they do have some great cakes. If you want to enjoy your food with a drink the cafe is licensed and a cold beer or a nice wine is available.
Anyway just a short idea for a trip out of the city.
There are other well known attractions close to the city and in easy reach by public transport couple being the 3 bridges across the Firth of Forth including the Victorian build Forth Rail Bridge, at South Queensferry or if you were a fan of the film The Da Vinci Code then one of its iconic backdrops, Roslyn Kirk is on the outskirts of the city and is a interesting place to visit not just for the film references.
